The La Candelilla Estate is proudly owned and operated by seven dedicated siblings of the Sanchez family. This remarkable estate holds the distinction of being the very first micro mill to be established in Costa Rica, marking it as a pioneer of the micro mill trend that has since gained popularity in the coffee industry. Prior to the creation of this innovative estate, each sibling independently managed their own plots of land and delivered their coffee beans to a cooperative-managed mill. However, during the challenging coffee crisis of 1997, the family made a significant decision to pool their resources and land together, thereby initiating the process of starting their own wet mill. After several years of meticulous planning and hard work, the Beneficio La Candelilla successfully processed its first harvest of high-quality coffee. Under the capable leadership of General Manager Sr. Ricardo Hernandez, La Candelilla has since introduced various unique processing methods and has also planted a selection of exotic coffee varietals to enhance the appeal and diversity of their offerings.
